Supporting Our Medical Community: Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

We have completed our mission of supplying PPE!

The Mobile Makerspace is utilized its 3D printers, combined with several 3D printers borrowed from the Mobile Public Library, to print personal protection equipment (PPE) items for our local medical community in the fight against COVID-19 and the coronavirus.

We printed over 1500 face shields, and even more ear savers. Our friends at Azalea City Threads of hope provided logistics and distribution, which they already established with their efforts in distributing sewn face masks.

Donations Directly Support Our Mobile Community

Mobile Makerspace would like to thank those who contributed funds and supplies for this project.  The project costs exceeded our income and donations, especially since membership was down due to the pandemic itself and our income depends on membership dues.  Please consider continuing to support our community efforts by joining as a member or making a tax deductible donation.  Contributions can be sent quickly through PayPal (link below) or by donating to the Mobile Makerspace GoFundMe page. You can also mail a donation to Mobile Makerspace, PO Box 8712, Mobile, AL 36689-0712.

  • We have gained some new members since January 2021, but we are still in the red by almost $1000 per month as of June 2021.  This is just to cover rent and utilities.  Our reserves are dwindling quickly.  Please consider joining us at one of our monthly business meetings for continuous updates and how to get involved.
  • Any amount helps. For example, the electricity costs to operate a 3D printer for 4 hours is about $0.10. Each face shield takes 1 to 2 hours to print, depending on the design. So, even $5 will be appreciated.
  • We currently do not have enough funds to properly advertise and promote the Makerspace.  It costs nothing for visitors to come by and take a tour.  We encourage you to come by, talk to us, and get an idea of what we do.  Then, get the word out.

Mobile Makerspace is a 501c3 non-profit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

Please use our Donation Receipt Form to receive tax deduction benefits for your donation.

Stay safe and thanks for visiting.
