Mobile Makerspace president Patrick Davis helped judge the Rural Sourcing Inc. sponsored Hackathon as part of Southsounds Music and Arts Festival. The event had a great turnout of eager college students. The teams had 4 hours to create a mobile website for the festival.
Great turnout for the Beginner Arduino Workshop on Saturday. Patrick led the class on the basics of microcontrollers and the Arduino. Rick assisted with examples and explanations. We met several new people. Witnessing the spark of imagination kick-in is a lot of fun in these workshops. A basic understanding of sensors and programming logic is all it takes to launch in to Arduino projects. It’s a common gateway for several of our members.
Patrick and Rick ran a RetroPie/Raspberry Pi Workshop Saturday 9/20. Patrick guided the class through the entire process of getting your Raspberry Pi setup for retro gaming. Rick talked about the merits and educational value of Raspberry Pi.
Several members met up to assemble workbenches for our space. These are 2×4 Basics kits we plan to keep against the wall. The benches will have upper shelves and peg board backs.
Stop by Mobile Makerspace during LoDa Artwalk Friday September 12th 6-9PM to hear member audio projects. We’re featuring Arduino and MaKey MaKey DIY electronics projects. Arduino is an inexpensive open source electronics platform for developing functional and creative projects. MaKey MaKey is an Arduino-based invention kit that turnsstuff in to keys and touchpads.
